The government can print money, but it can't do it without raising taxes or suffering inflation. In the current economic climate, with hundreds of billions paid out, I don't see the government increasing taxes significantly enough to pay off the debt its pouring out to troubled entities.
What does this mean? It means that we have massive inflation to look forward to. Why would we care about that? Because it diminishes the purchasing power of your paltry raise (if you got one).
