If you missed the news, the Magna Carta is going on sale today. For a measly $20-30 million dollars you can have, as David Redden calls it, the "birth certificate of freedom".
If you're not familiar with the document - or faintly remember some conversation of it in grade school - the Magna Carta is a document the commoners of England wrote and had King John sign in 1215.
It basically says that dictatorships or monarchies can last no more. Power to the people, in so many words. The U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights were written using the Magna Carta as a guideline. It's quite important you can imagine.
Wouldn't it be fun to buy it, wrap it up in gift paper and send it to Kim Jong-ill? I'm sure the North Korean dictator would love to read it over. Then he would probably use it for toilet paper after another successful round of golf.

This depresses me. Not that its being sold but that I thought it was a French document. I guess I have some reading to do.
I'm sure there will be some Disney "National Treasure" sequel that will help those of you.
