ESPNU and Charter Communications

I just got off an instance message session with Charter Communications - my local, filing for bankruptcy, cable company. My inquiry was to see how I could order ESPNU tonight. The UMD hockey team is playing in the regional championship and I want to watch it.

According to the customer service representative, ESPNU is not available in my area. How can that be? How can I wander around the world and get instant internet access on my iPhone and yet my cable company can't get one channel to my t.v?

I'm predicting the death of the cable business. Very soon, all of us will be able to order any programming we want via the internet. It's already starting and I can't wait for it to be ubiquitous.
